Before exposing herself (and then some) in Turistas, Melissa
George had a long and varied career as an actress. And she's no stranger to
weird cinematic going-ons. She appeared as the doomed hooker May in Alex Proyas'
Dark City,
as well as had a part in David Lynch's Muholland Dr. Fans of TV's quickly-cancelled fantasy series Roar know
her as Molly; while fans of Alias know (and hate) her as Lauren Reed. George has
also made appearences on such TV shows as Friends, Monk, and Charmed. She can
also be seen in Sugar And Spice and The Limey, as well as playing Clive Owen's
wife in Derailed.
Outside of Turistas, George is probably best known
to horror fans from her role as Kathy Lutz,
whose family is beseiged by ghosts in the Amityville Horror remake from a few
years ago. But she's not yet done with the creepy goings-on: George has already
shot 30 Days Of Night, a vampire thriller that's based on a comic book which
depicts an Alaskan town under assault by bloodsuckers during the time of year
when there's no sunlight. That's due in theaters in fall of 2007. A native of
Australia, Turistas is one of the rare projects outside of that country in which
George speaks with her natural accent.
